Monica and Jake’s Northfork Farm wedding was another beautiful early summer wedding day. They had the perfect weather for an outdoor wedding at this elegant horse farm surrounded by white fences and lush green pastures.
I first met Monica and Jake at Camp Aramoni, a new luxury camping and wedding venue in Illinois, for their engagement session. We loved exploring the grounds, getting to know each other and photographing their engagement photos. These outdoor lovers picked this location because of it’s rustic charm and nature. It was no surprise to me that they chose a wedding venue that was also outdoors in such a beautiful, quiet spot.
Northfork Farm has a beautiful bridal suite on site, which is where I met up with Monica and the girls on the wedding day. The girls and the moms were all finished up with hair and makeup, so shortly after I arrived, Monica got into her dress with the help of her sister, Josie. Opting to do a first look with her mom, Monica chose to have her sister get her ready. I absolutely loved the reaction from her sweet mom when she finally got to her.
Following the first look with her mom, Monica did a first look with her bridesmaids, stepmom and Jake’s mom. These first looks are always so fun, because bridesmaids are typically very expressive. Monica’s bridesmaids were so sweet all day, helping her in any way. After separate bridesmaids and groomsmen photos, everyone tucked away before the ceremony as guests began arriving.
The ceremony was set up in such a way that the beautiful pastures and horses created the most serene backdrop. Monica’s dad guided her toward the ceremony space between the fence lines where Jake was waiting. I think his reaction to seeing Monica was my favorite ever.
Following the ceremony, we did family photos, wedding party photos, and photos of the newlyweds. The farm had so many beautiful places for pictures that I could have kept photographing them for hours. But, alas, the party couldn’t start without them.
The white tent on the property became the reception space with ample space for people to spill out during cocktail hour or to break away from the dancing to enjoy quiet space to chat. You can’t beat the views of the prairie as the sun was going down. Of course, I had to sneak out the newlyweds for some golden hour photos.
Monica and Jake, I wish you a lifetime of happiness and joy in each other.
