Wedding Tips | Save an Invitation for your photographer

Your wedding invitation is an important piece of your wedding. As the first touch for your guests, it sets the tone for the wedding day. From your invitation, guests will be able to learn a lot about your special day. Of course, your wedding invitation will tell them when and where the wedding will be held. It may also give them details about making hotel reservations or their meal options. But, that’s not all your guests will learn from this important piece of correspondence.

Your invitation has the potential to set the stage for what your guests will wear and expect. Is it a black tie wedding? What is the theme of the wedding? What are the colors? Are kids invited and welcomed? Is it super formal, or a casual backyard wedding? All of these things can be conveyed via your invitation suite.

Saving a clean, untouched invitation will allow your photographer to capture all of that in the wedding detail photographs. These photos look great in your custom wedding album and help to tell the story of your day. The invitations also make great backdrops for small details, like ring shots.

This invitation suite is from Beacon Lane. While this specific invitation was sent to me for a styled shoot (which is why the date is 2021, haha), you can see how it makes a beautiful backdrop for the rings. As we were planning this styled shoot, we used this invitation to be the inspiration for the style and color palette for the rest of the shoot.

Kelly & Glenn‘s invitation suite was the perfect inspiration for the rest of their wedding. White the invitations themselves did not provide a ton of color, you could tell that it was going to be a rustic, elegant wedding with a lot of details. The DIY projects they incorporated into their wedding were amazing!

It’s always nice to send your vendors, including your photographer, a formal invitation in the mail. Just make sure you also save a clean, unmarked invitation and have it ready with all of your wedding day details when your photographer arrives. You’ll be happy you have them to include in the photographs of your day.
