Simple, Rustic Zyntango Farm Barn Wedding |

weddings

Jeff & Abby’s wedding at Zyntango Farm Wedding Barn in Whitestown, IN just north of Indianapolis, was nothing short of perfect. I was looking forward to this wedding for many reasons, one being that I was able to shoot in a barn venue that was new to me. Abby was referred to me by her amazing cousin, Lacey, whom I went to grade school and high school with a few (ahem) years ago. I remembered that they had a large family, which also made me excited to shoot their wedding day.

Abby & Jeff met online. (You’ll have to ask them for the rest of that story.) Their first date was August 5th, 2014. They chose to get married on the same date three years later, which Abby thought would be helpful for Jeff to remember. They met up for the first time at the Indiana State Fair, where they checked out the livestock and all the fair had to offer. Abby thought Jeff was cute, calm and nonchalant, which put her at ease right away. They had a great time!

Jeff proposed in December of 2016 in what Abby describes as, “the best kind of dorky way–which was perfect”. These two love to play board games, and love the 2 person variant of Settlers of Catan, Rivals of Catan. Jeff had created a “Marriage Proposal” card for the game, which he started reading. It took Abby a while to catch on! She even admits to getting upset because she knew it wasn’t a real card and they take their card playing very seriously! (Sounds like my family.) When Abby finally realized what was going on, she started crying as Jeff got down on one knee.

Abby says she loves that Jeff is a big goofball and wakes up every morning with a song in his head, although she’s not a morning person. She says he cares deeply about his family! Jeff lets Abby be herself and that’s the best!

Abby & Jeff are a fun, silly, outgoing couple, which made them the perfect couple to photograph. They love to laugh, walk around the Broad Ripple area and play with their dogs.

When we met up for their Broad Ripple engagement session, we had great weather! But, the weather we were bless with on their wedding day was unbelievable for August in Indiana.

Their wedding day started for Abby with hair and makeup in Broad Ripple. When I arrived at Zyntango Farm, I was greeted by a very relaxed, excited groom. Jeff was hanging out around the barn, finishing up some last minute things. The weather was in the low 70s with a cool breeze blowing across the fields. Everyone was so laid back and the venue looked amazing with all of the flowers and table decorations that Abby, her friends and family spent so much time on the day before.

Abby & Jeff chose not to have a formal wedding party, but you could tell that they probably HAD to choose that way because they were surrounded by so many family and amazing friends. I don’t know how they could have chosen who to have in the wedding!

Abby and Jeff had some amazing details. From their invitation, to those amazing rings (hello favorite ring shots ever!) to the beautiful table decor, I was in photographer heaven. Abby’s crocheted wedding gown was so unique and fit her so perfectly. The dress, along with her floral crown, made her look so sweet, yet elegant.

Their ceremony took place outside, behind the barn. The aisle was line with beautiful DIY floral arrangements. I loved their ceremony and how their friends just radiated joy for this couple!

After the ceremony, we took some large family group shots. Since their families are so big, I ended up in the loft of the barn shooting down at their families. What a fun bunch of people!

You find out a lot about a couple during toasts. Jeff’s friend was maybe a little too willing to share about all of Jeff’s, uh, habits. Abby’s friends shared about her awesome dance moves and “grandma” tendencies. I can tell that these two are absolutely adored by their friends.

As we finished up the day with some s’mores and golden light photos, I just reflected on just how much joy I received out of photographing this wedding. It is truly a gift to get to do this on a regular basis. Abby and Jeff even gave me a sweet gift as I hugged them and congratulated them one last time before heading back home to Illinois.

They are flying to Boston and road-tripping in New England this fall for their honeymoon. Abby plans on eating her weight in seafood and hiking a few mountains. THAT sounds like the perfect honeymoon (minus the seafood)!

Abby & Jeff, you two deserve the beautiful wedding day you were given and many, many, many blessed years to come. Thank you once again for choosing me to capture your special day.
