Colorful Wedding Day at The Grand in NWI

Some wedding stories begin long before the wedding day itself, and Jacqueline and Tyler’s story with me is one of those!

I first met these two during one of my Christmas mini sessions several years ago. During that session, I discovered that Tyler had actually worked with my husband years before. The following fall, they returned for another mini session, and that’s when Jacqueline casually told me that if she and Tyler ever got engaged, she wanted me to be their wedding photographer. She wasn’t kidding!

The night they got engaged in December 2024, Jacqueline sent me a photo of her new ring before they had even announced their engagement publicly. Just eleven days later, they had signed their contract and officially booked me as their wedding photographer before they even had a wedding date or venue selected. They told me they were willing to work around my availability because having me photograph their wedding day was that important to them. It was one of the sweetest compliments I’ve ever received. It made finally celebrating alongside them at The Grand in Northwest Indiana even more special!

We photographed their beach engagement session last summer (my favorite!), and I’ve been counting down the days to their wedding day since.

One of my favorite things about Jacqueline and Tyler’s wedding day at The Grand in NWI was how much of it reflected the talents and personalities of the people closest to them.

Jacqueline’s bridesmaids included her two sisters, one of whom is her identical twin. I’ll admit that there were a few moments throughout the day when I was especially thankful the bride was wearing white. Her older sister Lindsay created all of the gorgeous floral arrangements, filling the day with color that perfectly complemented Jacqueline’s vision. As the owner of her own paper goods and signage business, Jacqueline designed all of the wedding stationery and signage herself. The details were perfect!

Love for all the little details!

The colorful details tied everything together beautifully. From the florals and invitations to her perfectly coordinated nails, every element felt cheerful, intentional, and uniquely Jacqueline. It was so refreshing to see so much color on a wedding day!

Jacqueline enjoyed a relaxed morning as she got ready surrounded by her mom, sisters, cousin, and brother-in-law. One of the highlights was watching Jacqueline and Tyler exchange gifts before the ceremony.

Tyler surprised Jacqueline with a beautiful diamond cross necklace and matching earrings, a gift she will be able to treasure for years to come. Jacqueline, however, may have set the bar exceptionally high. Knowing Tyler’s love for river otters, she adopted a river otter named Charlotte through Brookfield Zoo in his honor. Tyler loves river otters so much that he has apparently tried convincing Jacqueline they should own one as a pet. She also gifted him a signed Albert Pujols bat from his favorite player and favorite team, making the exchange so personal and meaningful.

Some of the most emotional moments of the day centered around Jacqueline and her dad. After facing some recent health challenges, it was especially meaningful that he was able to be such an important part of the wedding day. The two shared a private first look and first dance before the ceremony… Creating memories that Jacqueline will undoubtedly cherish forever. Later, he proudly walked her down the aisle. When I spoke with Jacqueline after the wedding, she told me how much fun her dad had throughout the day, which made those moments feel even more special!

A Colorful, Joyful Celebration

Throughout the day, it was impossible not to notice how loved Jacqueline and Tyler are by their family and friends. The day was relaxed, joyful, and completely centered on celebrating their marriage.

After dinner, guests were treated to one of the best dessert spreads I’ve seen at a wedding. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, Jacqueline and Tyler served an assortment of cupcakes. The s’mores flavor was a favorite! They also offered Cold Stone ice cream with toppings, giving guests plenty of options to satisfy their sweet tooth.

As the evening continued, Jacqueline surprised everyone with a second look at the reception. She changed into a sparkly silver sequined gown that was absolutely perfect for a night of dancing and celebrating. It was such a fun addition to an already joyful day and fit the energy of the reception perfectly.

Jacqueline and Tyler, thank you for trusting me with your memories long before your wedding plans were even finalized! It has been such a joy getting to know you over the years, and I am so grateful I was able to document this incredible day at The Grand. I have no doubt there are many exciting chapters ahead, and I hope I’ll have the opportunity to photograph some of them along the way!
