The Barn at Hornbaker Gardens

Melissa and Trevor’s Barn at Hornbaker Gardens wedding was the perfect mix of rustic charm and simple elegance. This stunning venue is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city on beautiful, peaceful property that is a perfect backdrop for your wedding day.

Arriving to the barn already having had their hair and makeup done earlier in the day, Melissa and the girls were excited to get their dresses on. Melissa’s mom helped her get into her dress and her bridesmaids got a little reveal. When I asked Melissa if she had a vision for her first look, she said the steps in the garden area nestled amongst the trees was important to her. We drove Trevor out to that location on a golf cart and then went back for Melissa. Their first look was so sweet and I think Melissa’s vision turned out perfectly.

Because of the timing of the day, we were able to get all of the wedding party photos done prior to the ceremony. It was a bit warm that day, but the property is full of beautiful established trees so we kept everyone as cool as possible in the shade. The ceremony was outside behind the barn, where the aisle and arch were lined with Melissa’s favorite flower, the sunflower. The couple read their vows to each other and said “I do” surrounded by their closest family and friends.

One of my favorite parts of the night were the first dances. Melissa and Trevor started out with a tradition slow dance, then broke into some fun moves before going back to slow dancing. Melissa danced with her dad, which always makes me tear up. During the mother-son dance, Trevor grabbed his mom, lifted her up, and swung her around the dance floor (much to her surprise). Then Melissa did a special dance with her sister, Heather. You can tell these two have a special bond, and everyone loved watching them dance and laugh together on the dance floor.

Melissa and Trevor, I wish you all the best in life and your marriage. It was such an honor to be a part of your special day.
