Greenhouse Loft Wedding in Chicago

Greenhouse Loft Wedding

Chicago, Illinois

Alex and Colin’s Greenhouse Loft wedding in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago was such a beautiful wedding day. I started my day photographing the couple getting ready at the W Chicago Lakeshore Hotel, which sits right on Lakeshore Drive with stunning views of Navy Pier and Lake Michigan. Alex and Colin were in separate lake view suites with their wedding party members getting ready for their first look, which happened on the rooftop lounge at the hotel. The lake was busy with a lot of boat traffic that day due to the perfect weather and made the best backdrop for their sweet moments of seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day.

From there, we headed over to Milton Lee Olive Park for portraits of the couple and their wedding party. This location is a favorite photo spot in the city, no doubt because of the awesome skyline views and the lake. While it was a sunny day, the temperature was right around 80 degrees with a light breeze off of the lake. It was a perfect day for being outside!

After finishing up photos, we headed across town to the Greenhouse Loft for the rest of the day. This venue is situated on the second floor of the Greenhouse Exchange building and has a unique skygarden for outdoor weddings and cocktail hour, a stunning natural light loft with floor to ceiling windows for the reception or indoor weddings, and even a unique art gallery where you can hold cocktail hour when the weather outside isn’t great. I loved photographing at this venue and am always in awe of all of the unique venues around the city.

Alex and Colin had a beautiful ceremony in the skygarden surrounded by the sweetest family and friends. It was one of those weddings where I could have just enjoyed myself as a guest and felt like part of the family because everyone was so kind and inviting. After the ceremony and cocktail hour, guests were welcomed inside the loft for the reception. The best man, maid of honor, and Alex’s dad gave speeches that made everyone laugh, and a few tears were shed, as they talked about how special this couple is to them. After a delicious meal and tasty desserts, the dance floor opened with first dances. I snuck the newlyweds out for just a few minutes after the special dances for some golden hour photos in the skygarden and the first floor garden behind the venue. It was such a beautiful way to end my time with them.

Alex and Colin, it was truly an honor to spend your wedding day with you. I wish you all the best in life and your marriage, and hope to continue documenting your lives in the future.
