Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort Wedding

Lake Placid, New York

Meghan and Bryan had the most beautiful, sunny day for their Lake Placid wedding earlier this month. Along the beautiful Mirror Lake at the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort with the mountains in the distance, they became husband and wife surrounded by their family and friends.

I first met this sweet couple for their engagement photos in chilly Chicago. With snow on the ground, we walked around the Lincoln Park Nature Boardwalk taking pictures and getting to know each other. I remember them talking about possibly getting married in Lake Placid and was so excited when they asked me to join them there to photograph their wedding day.

On their wedding day, I headed down to the bridal suite to find Meghan, her mom and future mother-in-law, and her wedding party finishing up with getting ready. I got to work photographing all of Meghan’s details, while sneaking in some photos of the getting ready process. I had talked with Meghan and Bryan the day before about changing their location for the first look from the resort to another lake with a view just a few minutes away. I’m so glad we made that change, because those first look photos turned out to be some of my favorites from the day.

After the first look, Meghan and Bryan read letters to each other. While they were heartfelt and sentimental, they also made each other laugh. And, that’s one thing I adore about these two. Their laughter comes so easily! I think that will serve them well in marriage. 🙂

We headed back to the resort for pictures with the wedding party and family before the ceremony right along the lake. More laughter, and maybe a few small tears, as the officiant shared stories about the couple during the ceremony. Before we knew it, they were headed back down the aisle in a flurry of bubbles as husband and wife.

A highlight of the day was definitely the gondola ride that is provided by the resort. The videographer and I headed out on the gondola with just the two of them (and a driver, of course) for some sweet photos as they shared some special champagne and appetizers. It was such a peaceful moment for them to enjoy each other away from the guests for just a few minutes before the reception began while the guests looked on from cocktail hour atop the boathouse.

The reception started shortly after we returned and included a sweet first dance, hilarious toasts (see photo evidence below), and even a dance for Bryan and his new mother-in-law & Meghan and her new father-in-law. I thought this was a sweet touch to add to the dance lineup.

I snuck the newlyweds back out for a few minutes of photos as the sun dipped behind the buildings. The boathouse and the docks around the resort were perfect for getting some great views of the lake and mountains for their final formal photos of the day.

Meghan and Bryan, I had the best time photographing your wedding. I don’t think I’ve had that many laughs on a wedding day in a long time. I wish you all the best in your marriage and hope to photograph you again someday.
