Kourtney and Connor’s Marlenes Event Barn Wedding was the perfect day to kick off fall wedding season. It was one of those warm-in-the-sun cool-in-the-shade kind of days that just make you feel all cozy inside, especially when it was full of so many beautiful, fun people and pretty details.
The day started out with Kourtney getting ready at Marlene’s in their beautiful bridal suite with her mom, sisters, and other bridesmaids, while Connor and the guys were down the road getting ready at Stoney Creek Hotel. As I arrived at Marlene’s, I was greeted by the staff and planner making the reception space look like an elegant, fall dream. I checked in with Kourtney and got to work photographing all of her stunning details. Kourtney is a photographer as well, so she knew exactly what to have ready for me when I arrived. From the invitation suite to the jewelry to the extra florals, the details were just perfect.
Once Kourtney’s hair and makeup were done, her mom helped her into her gown to be ready for a first look with her dad. You guys all know that the father-daughter moments on wedding days always make me cry, and this one was no different. This dad of four daughters was so emotional as he saw his second daughter as a bride on her wedding day. Shortly following, Connor arrived at the venue for his first look with Kourtney. The couple stood back to back and read letters that they had written to one another, before turning around to see each other. It was another touching moment and Kourtney spun around for Connor to see her dress. I just love the way this man looks at his now wife.
Following portraits with the couple and the wedding party, it was time to hide the bride in preparation for the ceremony. Marlene’s has a covered patio beside the barn overlooking a little pond that makes the perfect outdoor ceremony space. As Kourtney walked down the aisle with her dad, Connor tried to hold it together at the end of the aisle. The ceremony was a sweet, traditional ceremony surrounded by the changing colors on the surrounding trees and the sound of the fountain on the pond.
Cocktail hour followed with an open bar, lawn games, and mingling on the patio. I spent some time with both families for family portrait time, which is always such a fun way to get to know them a little and for them to have just a few moments together in the middle of a busy day. I was especially smitten with Kourtney and Connor’s grandmothers. They were the cutest!
The day ended with a delicious barbecue dinner and fun on the dance floor. I did sneak the newlyweds back outside for a few minutes during golden hour, which resulted in my favorite photos of the day. We went out at THE PERFECT moment to get exactly what I was hoping to get for them.
Kourtney and Connor, I wish you all the best in your marriage. It was an honor to capture your day!
