Abby & Kevin’s Wedding at Wellspring Alliance Church & Shannon Hall

Wheaton, IL

Abby and Kevin are two of the sweetest souls I have met. Their Wheaton wedding day this past weekend was a beautiful, God-honoring day filled with blessings, the most lovely people and miraculously dry weather.

The week leading up to this wedding day was full of storms, tornado warnings, and flood alerts. The forecast for their wedding day was much of the same. When I arrived to the church on Saturday, it was raining . . . hard. I headed inside to meet up with Abby and her bridesmaids. Everyone was calm and relaxed. Abby and I had talked earlier in the week to discuss photo locations in case of rain, so we had a plan. But, she and Kevin really wanted photos at Wheaton College, where they met and attended college, and also photos after the ceremony at nearby Cantigny Park. Ten minutes before the first look was scheduled to happen, the coordinator at the church came downstairs to let us know that the rain had stopped.

We decided to do the first look outside the church in case it started raining again. I got Kevin all set up outside, where he nervously waited to see Abby for the first time on their wedding day. What Kevin didn’t know was that Abby and one of the groomsmen had a little surprise for him. You can scroll down to see that nonsense. It was awesome! When Kevin finally got to actually see his bride, their were tears and laughter and a lot of hugging.

Since it still wasn’t raining after the first look and the skies looked pretty safe, we decided to head to Wheaton College for more photos of the bride and groom, as well as wedding party photos. We pulled out some of the many umbrellas I had in the back of my van and walked onto the lawn in front of Blanchard Hall for photos. It was amazing that while we were taking photos, we even had periods of time where the sun came out. We finished up with photos at the college and headed back for family photos outside the church to make sure we got them in before the rain started again. I’m just going to tell you that while I prayed on the way to the wedding that we would get just enough time to get the necessary photos done outside, I did not anticipate what we were given. It didn’t rain the rest of the day!

Abby & Kevin were married in the church where Kevin grew up. They exchanged vows surrounded by their family and friends. The newlyweds exited the church with a flower petal exit before we left for photos at Cantigny Park.

The reception was held at Shannon Hall, an old church turned banquet hall in Batavia. The building was full of character and history. Dinner was served, cake was cut, desserts were shared and dances were danced. It’s been so wonderful to see dance floors open up again. Before I headed home for the night, I took Abby and Kevin to the riverwalk for just a few photos before sunset.

Abby and Kevin, I wish you all the best in your marriage! It was such a joy to be a part of your special day.
