Shana & Eddie’s Navy Pier summer engagement session was the first Chicago engagement session for me since the shutdown for coronavirus. After rescheduling their session more than once as we waited for Chicago to open back up, we finally were able to do their session at this iconic Chicago location.

These two cuties are frontline workers and, as you can imagine, have had quite the year. They met at a wedding. Isn’t that cute? She was a bridesmaid; he was a groomsmen. They fell in love, and now they will be the bride and groom!

I met up with them at Navy Pier just as a Illinois had moved into Phase 4 of our reopening plan. It was a bit surreal to be walking around with masks on, and I wasn’t entirely sure if it was going to work to photograph there. After a quick chat to some very helpful security workers, we were able to go ahead with their session, taking our masks off as we moved away from any crowds, which were few that day. It was such a beautiful day downtown, and we even saw a faint rainbow over the lake as we walked all the way to the end of the pier to start their session. I had a great time getting to know them and to hear all about their wedding day plans.
