Hannah and Alex’s fall Morton Arboretum engagement session was definitely a highlight for the year! Hannah is my oldest niece, so it’s pretty special to me to be able to capture this exciting time in her life. We had such a beautiful, chilly fall day for the session. The leaves were just starting to change colors, and the sun finally peeked out for us toward the end of their session. I’m so excited to share some of my favorites with you, as well as a little of their story.
Hannah and Alex met during Alex’s sophomore year of high school at Barrington High School. Hannah was a freshman, and they both had third hour open. Alex jokes about Hannah not liking him at first, but she says she was just really shy and thought he was cute. They had their first date at Noodles, but it took her a while to realize they were on a date! Oops! 🙂
Hannah, “For me there wasn’t a specific moment when I knew. I think over time I just realized that Alex is my best friend and he is the person I wanted to go through the fun stuff with and the tough stuff with. He makes me a better person and I’ve learned so much from him that I knew I wanted someone like Alex who would continue to push me to be better but also love me despite my flaws. We had been dating for so long that we had periods where things were easy and fun and periods where we had to work hard. I knew that he was worth the working hard and that I wanted it all.
For Alex, he said over the course of a couple of months he felt like he finally realized that I was the person he wanted to keep growing up with and do life with. We’re gonna do all the stages together. Nothing specific, he just knew.”
Hannah and Alex love lazy date nights with wine & cheese, probably followed by ice cream later on, and a good movie. They watch a lot of Harry Potter, but say that Crazy, Stupid Love is their favorite. Alex is a big fan of Ryan Gosling. This year, they have had a lot of fun playing on soccer and softball teams together. Hannah grew up playing soccer “like a boss” and Alex has finally admitted that it’s a great sport that requires extreme endurance.
Hannah and Alex, I love you guys! I can’t wait for your wedding at Loft 21 next year!
