2016 was a busy year for me! When I wasn’t shooting weddings as the main photographer, I spent a lot of time second shooting for some of my favorite photographer friends. For this Peoria, Illinois wedding, I was working with Holly from Vivid Studios, Inc. She’s so much fun to work with and has become a good friend! While I won’t be second shooting as much this year, I will always say yes if Holly asks and I happen to be free.

I met up with Holly, bride Alyssa, Alyssa’s mom and the bridesmaids at the cutest little salon called The Part Salon in Roanoke. It was decorated with the cutest decor and was full of natural light, which is a photographer’s dream, right? Alyssa was busy getting her makeup done, while the rest of the bridesmaids were finishing up with hair. I took a few getting ready shots and then got to shoot the most amazing bouquet! When Holly asked me to take the dress out for dress shots, I was so excited. Alyssa’s dress was one of the most beautiful dresses I shot all year. It was a stunning ombre petal gown from Theia bridal.

Once Alyssa got into her gown, she had a tearful father-daughter first look with her dad. I just die every time a dad gets emotional at weddings, which is most of the time. From there, we headed to the groom’s parent’s home for portraits in the backyard. We had a chilly fall day, but the light was gorgeous and the bridal party was fun. I loved the bridesmaids dresses and all the florals!

Now, I’m going to be honest. I’m not much of an animal person. But, when Alyssa and Max brought out their dogs for a few pictures, I have to admit that I was overjoyed! How cute are these furry friends?!!

My day ended with the candlelit ceremony at St Elizabeth Catholic Church in Washburn. Alyssa and Max shared vows they had written to each other and there wasn’t a dry eye in the place.
