Every year or so, I enjoy taking my oldest daughter and her dance friends out for a fun shoot. We go around town, laugh a lot, try crazy things and, of course, end the evening with lots of food! Wow!!! BALLERINAS CAN EAT . . . A LOT!
I took these pictures a while ago and finally had them on my schedule to finish up today. Little did I know that today is World Ballet Day!!!! Perfect timing, right?! I love when that happens. 🙂
These girls have been dancing together since they were little bitty at Dance in the Light in Bradley, Illinois. They’ve spent hundreds and hundreds of hours together, cried together, iced their stinky, aching, blistered feet in the same water, nursed injury after injury, celebrated lost toenails, embraced each other’s strengths and celebrated victories. They’ve learned from some of the areas BEST ballet teachers, travelled to different states to compete in YAGP, performed together countless times at recitals, Peter Pan & Nutcracker with Legere and Indiana Youth Ballet, gone across the country for summer intensives and been to numerous auditions together. Our families have known each other for years and are friends. They’ve seen friends move away, graduate and be accepted to ballet schools. (Miss you Adriana!) Two of these girls graduate this year. But, I know they will always be there for one another, no matter how far apart they may be. Because dancers have a special bond, like sisters, really! I guess that happens when you spend more time with them at the studio than at your own home. 🙂
We started out at Olivet Nazarene University and ended our time at Perry Farm for golden hour!
