Engagement Photos at Lincoln Park & North Avenue Beach

I just love when couples make it easy to have fun behind the camera! Sandra and Sherveen are definitely one of those couples. From the moment we met up for their Chicago engagement session, there was so much laughter, playfulness, and genuine joy between these two. Add their sweet pup Riley into the mix, and we had the perfect afternoon!

Sandra and Sherveen actually came to me through one of my favorite photographer friends, Emily. Sandra and Emily went to school together, and when Sandra reached out to Emily about photographing their wedding, Emily was already booked. Thankfully, she knew exactly who to send them to and connected us instead. I’m always so grateful when another photographer trusts me with their people, and I couldn’t be more excited that Emily sent this couple my way!

Sandra and Sherveen now live in Memphis, but they happened to be back in Chicago this summer for a couple of weddings. I’m so glad we found a little time in their busy weekend to squeeze in their engagement session! We met at two of my favorite Chicago engagement session locations, Lincoln Park Nature Boardwalk and North Avenue Beach. Truly the perfect combination for their photos!

Lincoln Park & North Avenue Beach Engagement Photos

We started the afternoon with Riley, who was very happy to be included in the celebration. After some photos with their sweet pup, Sherveen’s sister took Riley off to play and cool down while we continued the rest of their session. Honestly, I think Riley had a pretty great afternoon, too!

From the nature boardwalk to the beach, these two were so comfortable in front of the camera. They laughed easily, played off each other, and made my job feel incredibly easy. I love the way their relationship comes through in their photos. There’s so much genuine affection between them, but also a really fun friendship that makes you want to smile right along with them.

And then there was North Avenue Beach! Chicago never disappoints when it comes to an engagement session. Ending the session by the lake gave us the perfect mix of fun, romantic, and Chicago!

I’m already counting down the days until their wedding. If their engagement session was any indication, it’s going to be such a joyful day! I cannot wait to celebrate alongside Sandra and Sherveen and capture all of the moments in between.

I’m so thankful Emily connected us, and even more thankful that these two trusted me to be their photographer. Chicago engagement sessions, an adorable dog, lots of laughter, and a fall wedding to look forward to? Sounds pretty perfect to me!
