Winter Morton Arboretum Engagement

There’s something truly magical about a winter engagement session, and Nicolette and David proved it beautifully at the Morton Arboretum! Despite the cold weather, we were grateful for that soft, glowing light that makes winter photos feel extra special.

Nicolette and David’s story is one that feels like it was meant to be. They were introduced by David’s sister, who had been a close friend of Nicolette’s for years. Then one day, David’s grandfather set them up on a date. From that moment, their story began! Now they are planning a wedding filled with love, joy, and all the little moments that make their relationship so “them”.

We had originally planned for a late fall session, but a back injury for David meant a little rescheduling. That turned out to be a blessing in disguise because early January brought gorgeous winter light that made the Morton Arboretum absolutely stunning. Yes, it was cold, but it was completely worth it to capture the images Nicolette and David dreamed of for their wedding. We moved a little quicker, bundled up in layers, and took breaks to warm up when we needed to, but every minute was full of laughter, love, and playful moments.

I love that these photos also show couples that winter sessions can be just as beautiful as any other season! With a little planning, warm layers, and a sense of adventure, you can get timeless images that feel like you.
