Due to life events, a global pandemic, and Hurricane Ian, Alex and Emma have been waiting for over four years for this day and finally got to have their Heitman House wedding of their dreams earlier this month. It was such an honor to finally get to photograph their wedding day.
I met up with Emma and her bridesmaids at the elegant Luminary Hotel in downtown Ft Myers. Sitting right along the river, this hotel is the perfect getting ready location for classy brides with spacious suites and a view of the water. When I first stepped into the bridal suite, Emma and I both got a bit emotional, because we’ve been waiting almost 5 years since we met at their engagement session for this very day.
Emma got into her gown with the help of her mom and then walked down to the water to do a reveal with her sweet bridesmaids. Following the first look, we headed over to The Alderman House for the first look with Alex. This venue sits across the street from their venue, The Heitman House, and they gave us access to do photos before the wedding there. It was the perfect, quiet spot for them to see each other for the first time and take some pre-ceremony photos.
We then headed over to their venue for wedding party photos and some bridal photos of Emma in the newly remodeled bridal suite at the Heitman House. While they had extensive damage from the hurricane, it has all been repaired and is as beautiful as ever!
The ceremony space at the venue it outside overlooking the river, which makes such a great backdrop for a Florida wedding. Emma and Alex’s boys walked down the aisle like perfect little gentleman, and Rhett stood with Alex as Emma made her way down the aisle. Cue the tears! So sweet!
The couple exchanged personal vows in front of their closest family and friends just like they always imagined, and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the crowd.
Following the ceremony and some family photos, the reception kicked off with the announcement of the wedding party and the new Mr and Mrs. They then shared their first dance before being served a delicious meal, cutting the cake, and some golden hour photos. The dance floor opened, and just before I finished up for the night, they had a sparkler exit. It was truly the most beautiful day!
Emma and Alex, I’m so glad you finally had your big day. It was such a joy to be a part of it all.
