Abby and Stuart had a destination engagement session, which means that they got me for a full day of photographing them all over one of their favorite places in Savannah, Georgia. Today I’m sharing their Tybee Island engagement photos. Next week, I’ll share their photos from downtown Savannah, Wormsloe Plantation and Forsyth Park. Savannah holds a very special place in the story of Abby & Stuart, so it was perfect that we got to travel there for their engagement photos. I’m sharing a little bit about how they met and got engaged, but check back on next week’s post for the rest of their story.
How They Met
Stuart and Abby met in Savannah, Georgia in 2017 through a mutual friend. Abby’s best friend, Brittany’s now husband James and Stuart went to Ranger School together. When James wrote letters back to Brittany he talked about Stuart and his good character. After Ranger School Stuart had orders to move to Savannah and the two met on a night out downtown.
First Date
Their first date was at a pizza place followed by a dessert bar downtown Savannah. They both wore jeans and cowboy boots. 🙂 Pizza, dessert bar, cowboy boots . . . what’s not to love about that?!
Favorite Date
Bride’s favorite: “Getting gelato in Barcelona 3 times in one day!!!”
Groom’s favorite: “Eating on the terrace at our riad in Morocco. We ate lamb and there was a beautiful orange sunset.”
Are you sensing a theme? These two LOVE to travel!
When did you start dating?
“We started dating June 23, 2018 when Stuart returned from Afghanistan. We talked every single day since the day we met, but didn’t call it “official” until he was back in Savannah.”
How He Proposed
“Stuart proposed to me in Destin, Florida with our friends mentioned above, Brittany and James. They are a huge part of our story so Stuart wanted to include them. I also grew up vacationing with my family on that beach so it’s an all-around special place.”
Did either of you cry?
Abby’s perfect response,”I did. ABOUT FREAKIN TIME HE PROPOSED.”
Aren’t they just the cutest? I can’t wait to share the rest of their photos next week.
