When a fellow photographer asks you to photograph them with their significant other and her pups, you jump at the chance . . . and also get a little nervous. There is just something about photographing another photographer that’s a little nerve-wracking. But, I had so much fun with Lisa and AJ at the in home session with the dogs, around Monticello, and later at Allerton Park.
I don’t remember when I first met Lisa. It may have been when she second shot for me at Tyra & Nemo’s wedding, or it may have been at a photography conference. I’m not quite sure. I do know that I have enjoyed getting to know her, as she shoots for me often and we belong to a lot of the same photography groups.
I love the way Lisa talks about AJ. It’s so sweet to hear her talk about how proud she is of him and how handsome she thinks he is. She’s always talking about how hard he works and how she can’t wait to be married to him someday. The day of our shoot, however, I got to witness AJ’s love for her! It was absolutely beautiful the way he looked at her. I love how these two can make each other laugh so easily. AJ is always really good at getting her to blush. 😉
While we wandered around Allerton Park, exploring all of the gardens and basking in the beautiful golden light, I remember getting a little emotional. Sometimes that happens at sessions when everything lines up so perfectly: the light, the couple, the cool breeze. It was all just a reminder that I’m doing exactly what I was meant to be doing at that moment.
While this couple isn’t officially engaged yet, we all know it’s coming soon. I cannot wait to watch their story unfold.
