Tips for Addressing Wedding Invitations

Last week on the blog for Wedding Wednesday, I shared some tips for brides on how to properly address wedding invitations. Most people don’t know the difference on what to put on the outside envelope versus the inside envelop. I shared the most commonly faced situations, but there are so many others to consider.

While I don’t think I could write a post that would include every situation, I will try to address some that come up a lot.

Unmarried Couples Living Together (including same gender couples)

Outside Envelope (alphabetical by last name):

Mr. Alex Parker

Ms. Katherine Smith

Inside Envelope:

Mr. Parker

Ms. Smith

Unmarried Couples Not Living Together

Send to the person you are closest to

Outside Envelope: Ms. Casey Beckman

Inside Envelope:

Ms. Beckman

Mr. Romano

People with Special Titles

Clergy

Outside Envelope: Pastor Thomas and Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson

Inside Envelope: Pastor & Mrs. Thompson

Judge

Outside Envelope: The Honorable and Mrs. Sally Davis

Inside Envelope: Judge and Mrs. Davis

There are dozens of different situations, but hopefully these will give you a guideline that you can use to figure out those. Just remember, being clear on who is invited and being respectful is what is most important. Well, that and spelling your guests’ names correctly. 🙂
