How to Use Your Engagement Photos

You’ve been convinced, perhaps by this blog post, that an engagement session is a good idea. You may have even had your session and totally ROCKED it! Now you may be trying to figure out exactly what to do with all of the gorgeous photos from your session. Here are a few ideas! Note: They are ALL much better than leaving them sit on your computer or on a flash drive in a desk drawer.

  1. Print them out for displaying at the wedding reception or at your wedding shower.
  2. Use them for Save the Dates! Your guests will love having a photo of you to hang on their fridge to remind them of your upcoming wedding date.
  3. Use them for a guest book for your wedding. Your photographer can usually design a beautiful album that will be a perfect mix of your engagement photos and white space for your guests to sign on your wedding day. This can be a beautiful keepsake that you will look at for years to come. Alternatively, you could make a coffee table album from your engagement pictures.
  4. Use them for Christmas cards. This works especially well if your wedding falls after the holiday.
  5. Make a reception slideshow. If you choose this route, you can include photos from your dating years and add some engagement photos as well.
  6. Submit them to the newspaper. Some small town newspapers still allow you to submit an engagement photo along with your information to announce your engagement.
  7. Create a postage stamp to use for your wedding invitations! This is a fun idea if you want to do something unique. You can design your postage stamp and order them online.
  8. Print them! This is the most important one! Whether you print standard prints or large canvases for your walls, you should definitely have your engagement photos on display in your new home.

  1. I love all of these tips! Along with #6, submit them to the alumni association of your college! Our Alma Mater has a section in their alumni newsletter called “Wedding Bells” and it’s always fun to see pictures!

  2. These are some great ideas! I love the one about creating a postage stamp, I had no idea you could do this!

  3. I love the whole idea of creating a postage stamp from them to send out on the wedding invites. I have never heard this before. That is so stinking awesome. I will have to remember that to tell all my friends. I also agree with PRINTING them! Don’t keep them on your disc or computer. Print them and display them around your home.
