You’re almost there! The week of your wedding has arrived! You probably have a list a mile long of all the last minute things you (or hopefully your friends and family) need to do. Here are 6 things that definitely should NOT be on that list.
- Tan (natural or otherwise) – This one is pretty self-explanatory, but now is not the time to be working on your tan. It’s too easy to accidentally get burnt if you try getting some sun the natural way or in a tanning bed. You also don’t want to end up with orange skin, so skip the spray tans and tanning creams that week of the wedding. You should also use caution when spending time outside. Pay attention to what clothes you are wearing and how getting sun in that strappy tank may end up for you if you have a strapless wedding gown.
- Haircuts or color – Ladies, we all know that most of the time when we get a haircut, we don’t end up loving it for a week or two. The same goes for color. Now is not the time to try something new with your hair, but even if you are sticking with a similar cut and color, get it done a couple of weeks ahead of time. You’ll give it time to “settle” and also still have time to fix anything you don’t like about it. Men, you should get your hair cut about two weeks ahead of time as well!
- Try new beauty products – Just don’t. You never know how your skin or hair will react to a new product, so stick to what you know and don’t try new products the week of the wedding.
- Buy your wedding shoes – Brides and grooms, this goes for both of you! Having miserable feet on your wedding day can make you miserable! Make sure you have your wedding day shoes well in advance so you have time to break them in before the wedding day. Your feet with thank you!
- Skimp on sleep – You may be tempted to pull late-nighters with your bridesmaids or groomsmen, or you may just feel like you need to stay up late to get everything done. Don’t do it! Sleep should be a priority the week before your wedding day, so plan ahead to make that happen. Bachelor and bachelorette parties the week of the wedding are a terrible idea, especially if they include a lot of drinking and no sleep.
- Crash diet – While I would absolutely suggest eating well and hydrating the week before the wedding, it’s NOT the time for a crash diet! Crash dieting makes us crabby, tired and hungry, NOT a good mix! You will be much happier if you eat a well-balanced diet and stay hydrated. You owe it to yourself, and everyone around you, to be energized and happy! A hangry bride/groom is not a happy one.
